More on ApeldoornThe history of Apeldoorn goes back to AD 793, when it was known as Appoldro. The settlement was just a small village until the 17th century, when Stadtholder William III built his hunting lodge there, now known as Het Loo Palace. This brought Apeldoorn to the attention of the aristocracy and noblemen, who followed suit in setting up residence there.
Apeldoorn only began to develop with industrialization arrived in the 19th and early 20th century. This helped to grow its population. Today the city has a number of sights worth seeing.
